Comments: I was diagnosed with right ankle arthritis about 5 years ago. Many, many ankle sprains as a result of sports had taken it's toll. I managed the pain with OTC pain killers and braces until it got to the point where I couldn't walk two blocks without extreme pain. I had my right hip resurfaced at HSS in 2010, so I knew that's where my ankle surgery would be done. After much research, I decided on Dr. Ellis. I couldn't have made a better choice. Everyone at the practice from Dr. Ellis to Stephen Costigliola, P.A. to the office staff were top notch. Dr Ellis recommended a total ankle replacement, which was performed on Oct. 24, 2022. I am now six months since my TAR and I couldn't be happier with the results. The pain in my ankle is gone. I can now go back to playing sports (low impact of course). I can also now walk without a severe limp. The limp also cause pain in my left knee, which has improved since surgery. I can't recommend Dr. Ellis and his entire practice enough.
